ATOMEXPO 2019 to Feature Discussion on Nuclear Technologies as a Driver of Scientific and Technological Innovation

The “Nuclear Technologies as a Key Driver of Scientific and Technological Innovation” roundtable will be held as part of the ATOMEXPO 2019 International Forum on April 16, 2019.

The event will bring together Russian and international experts to talk about the contribution of nuclear technologies to the development of scientific and technical process and their potential to influence industry, medicine, space exploration and other spheres of the economy. In particular, they will discuss how the use of advanced nuclear technologies in industry and medicine contributes to industrialization and the achievement of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.  

Managing Director of Nukem Technologies (Germany) Ulf Kutscher will talk about the use of high-temperature gas-cooled reactors for hydrogen production. Jan Rijn Zeevaart of Necsa (South Africa) will share his company’s experience in the use of nuclear technologies for medical purposes. Andrey Mokrushin  from Luch Scientific Production Association will discuss the potential of using nuclear batteries. Head of Radiopharmacy Center at the Nuclear and Energy Research Institute (Brazil) Efrain Perini will explain how the creation of radioisotope and radiopharmaceutical production facilities in developing countries affects the development of high-tech industries and healthcare. Senior Researcher at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics SB RAS Alexey Beklemeschev will talk about the prospects of using plasma thrusters in space exploration. And CEO of Orbita Capital Partners Evgeny Kuznetsov will discuss the role of venture capital in financing innovations in the nuclear sphere. The roundtable will be moderated by Alexsey Khokhlov, Head of the Electric Power Sector at Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO.

The roundtable will take place from 1.30pm to 3.30pm in the Blue Conference Hall of the Main Media Center.
