Projects from 22 countries competing in ATOMEXPO AWARDS contest

The call for applications has now closed for the ATOMEXPO AWARDS, an international professional award recognizing the outstanding merits of leading companies and organizations in nuclear energy and substantial contributors to the industry’s development and to the use of nuclear power for the benefit of humankind. The award will premiere as part of the 10th Anniversary ATOMEXPO 2018 International Forum, to be held at Main Media Centre in Sochi, Russia on 14-16 May.

To identify the ATOMEXPO AWARDS winners, projects by participants in the ATOMEXPO forums from 2009 to 2018 will be assessed in five categories:

• Best Launch – for the most promising projects to launch programs in “beginner countries”;

• Nuclear Technologies for Better Life – for the best project in the non-energy-related use of nuclear energy, such as nuclear medicine, safety and security technologies, non-destructive testing, processing technologies, etc.;

• Innovation for the Future – for groundbreaking innovative projects in the construction, maintenance, and shutdown of nuclear power plants and for projects in atomic engineering; • Public Communication – for the best PR project aimed at increasing public acceptance of nuclear energy;

• Human Capital Development – for the best projects in human capital management (HR) aimed at creating talent pools, improving qualification levels, developing and strengthening corporate culture.

Applications were submitted by companies representing 22 countries: Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Hungary, India, Iran, Kenya, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, the UK and Zambia. An independent international panel comprising global expert on nuclear energy will evaluate each project from the professional standpoint, and will shortlist three nominees in each category. The winning projects by category will be selected at the panel’s final session, which is scheduled for 13 May. The awards ceremony will be held on 114 May, the opening day of the ATOMEXPO 2018 Forum.

The key topic of this year’s forum is Global Partnership – Joint Success. The participants, including the top managers of international nuclear industry leaders, government officials, representatives of international organizations and leading experts, will discuss topical issues of bilateral cooperation related to all applications of nuclear technologies. The exhibition will feature latest technological solutions, competencies and projects as applied to the use of nuclear energy.
