Rusatom Healthcare and BGM sign PDA to build a network of irradiation centres in Malaysia

Rusatom Healthcare, a division of ROSATOM (Russia) and Beta Gamma Malaysia (BGM) signed a Project Development Agreement on construction of network of irradiation centres in Malaysia. Zulkafli Ghazali, Chairman of BGM and Denis Cherednichenko, CEO of Rusatom Healthcare, affixed their signatures to the document during the 10th International ATOMEXPO-2018 forum.

The aim of the agreement is to elaborate a joint action plan for the development of an integrated irradiation center to be built in Malaysia. The first phase of this facility envisaged the construction of the electron beam radiation processing centre with main focus on contract sterilization for high value medical devices and fruits for export.

“The irradiation centre will give Malaysia an opportunity to create even more prosperous, safe and sustainable future for all, as these technologies will bring great changes to our social and economic environment. It will contribute to development of medical, industrial and agricultural spheres of Malaysia, thus drastically improving the quality of life” – said Dr. Zulkafli Ghazali, Chairman of BGM, – “We appreciate support of Rosatom and hope for further development of Malaysia-Russia relations”.

The signed document outlines certain stages of the project development, from feasibility studies to construction and commissioning. It also stipulates the decision of Rusatom Healthcare and BGM to prepare and sign project contracts upon completion of all necessary procedures.
